Trump vs. Kelly Debate Rematch? Secret Service Move Fuels Speculation: Report
Speculation Swirls: Will Trump Join the Republican Primary Debate?
Excitement is building as rumors circulate that former President Donald Trump may participate in next month’s Republican primary debate. This event promises to be even more thrilling as it will be co-moderated by the infamous former Fox News host, Megyn Kelly, with whom Trump has famously clashed.
Despite his commanding lead in the polls, Trump declined to take part in the first three GOP debates. However, recent reports from TMZ suggest that Secret Service agents have scouted the venue for the upcoming debate in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Dec. 6. Interestingly, Trump is the only Republican candidate with Secret Service protection.
After the previous debate, Trump’s campaign adviser, Chris LaCivita, stated that the former president would not participate in the Alabama debate, dismissing it as an ”interview to be the first-place loser” between other candidates such as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott.
However, TMZ’s reporting has reignited speculation that Trump might finally share the debate stage with his 2024 primary opponents, once again facing off against Kelly as a moderator.
In 2015, Trump and Kelly had a memorable confrontation during the first debate of the 2016 GOP primary season. Their chilly exchange, sparked by Kelly bringing up Trump’s comments on women, ignited a headline-grabbing feud.
Although Kelly assured viewers that the bad blood between them was “under the bridge” during a later interview in September, tensions were still evident. Trump even criticized Kelly as “nasty” during a campaign rally in Iowa.

Kelly will moderate the fourth GOP debate alongside NewsNation anchor Elizabeth Vargas and Eliana Johnson, editor-in-chief of The Washington Free Beacon.

While the potential inclusion of Donald Trump in the upcoming Republican primary debate has sparked speculation and excitement, his previous absence in the first three debates has raised doubts about his participation. However, recent reports from TMZ suggest that Secret Service agents have scouted the venue for the upcoming debate, hinting at a possible appearance by Trump. As the only Republican candidate with Secret Service protection, this development adds fuel to the speculation.
Trump’s campaign adviser, Chris LaCivita, previously dismissed the Alabama debate as an insignificant opportunity for the candidates. However, TMZ’s reporting has reignited the speculation surrounding Trump’s involvement, raising the possibility that he may finally share the debate stage with his 2024 primary opponents. This would also mean that he would once again face off against Megyn Kelly, the infamous former Fox News host who clashed with Trump during the 2016 GOP primary season.
Their encounter during the first debate of the 2016 campaign, where Kelly confronted Trump about his comments on women, sparked a highly-publicized feud between them. Although Kelly later claimed that the animosity was resolved, tensions continued to linger as Trump referred to her as “nasty” during a campaign rally in Iowa. With Kelly returning as a moderator for the upcoming debate, the prospect of another confrontation between the two has added an extra layer of intrigue to the event.
The fourth GOP debate will be co-moderated by Kelly, along with Elizabeth Vargas from NewsNation and Eliana Johnson, the editor-in-chief of The Washington Free Beacon.
In conclusion, the rumors swirling around Trump’s potential participation in the Republican primary debate have generated excitement among political observers and supporters alike. While his previous absence in the debates raises doubts, reports of Secret Service agents scouting the venue suggest that his appearance is not entirely far-fetched. The possibility of Trump reuniting with Megyn Kelly, with whom he had a contentious history, adds an extra layer of drama to the event. As the date of the debate draws nearer, all eyes will be on whether Trump decides to join his fellow primary candidates on the stage.
