Trump’s CNN town hall elicits mixed responses from both parties.
Lawmakers React to Trump’s CNN Town Hall Appearance
Former President Donald Trump’s recent appearance at a CNN town hall event in New Hampshire has garnered mixed reactions from lawmakers and political insiders.
Republican Support
Many Republicans congratulated Trump on his appearance, with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) taking to Twitter to express her enjoyment of the event. Rep. Roger Williams (R-Texas) praised Trump’s performance and even predicted that he will be the Republican nominee in 2024. Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) was glad that Trump did the town hall, citing CNN’s lack of conservatism, and believes that Trump is comfortable in any environment and can tell his side of the story.
Uncertainty and Criticism
Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) was less decisive, stating that he was still unsure about endorsing Trump as the Republican presidential candidate. However, he did express concern for how the current administration is being led and emphasized the importance of electing a Republican. On the other hand, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie criticized Trump on Twitter, while the Lincoln Project accused CNN of giving Trump a campaign kickoff celebration and selling out their values.
Despite the mixed reactions, Trump’s appearance allowed him to present his plan for the country as he continues to explore his 2024 presidential campaign.
