Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 presidential campaign is now on Truth Social, with the platform issuing its own welcome statement.
Harris’s campaign appearing on Truth Social on Tuesday comes two days after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek reelection, giving his endorsement to the vice president. Since then, Harris’s campaign has made accounts across multiple social media platforms, including one on X.
The Truth Social platform is owned by former President Donald Trump, the Republican Party’s 2024 presidential nominee.
“A new candidate calls for a new handle,” read a statement on Truth Social. “Please welcome @KamalaHQ to #TruthSocial!!”
The account for Harris’s campaign is likely a rebrand, as the Biden campaign opened a Truth Social account on the platform in October 2023, which is when @KamalaHQ states it joined.
The Biden campaign’s account on TikTok is likely to have also undergone a rebrand, as searching “BidenHQ” will show “@KamalaHQ” as the top result.
As the 2024 election in November nears, Trump has stated he is ready to debate Harris, telling reporters he “absolutely” wants to. Recent polling data has indicated that Harris leads Trump by a 2% margin.
