TSA Will No Longer Enforce Mask Mandate
ST. PETERSBURG, Florida – After a federal judge in Florida Monday struck down the CDC’s national mask mandate for airplanes and other public transit, the White House says they are reviewing the decision but as for now, the TSA will no longer enforce the pandemic-era rule.
“The agencies are reviewing the decision and assessing potential next steps,” an official said in a statement to CBS News. “In the meantime, today’s court decision means CDC’s public transportation masking order is not in effect at this time. Therefore, TSA will not enforce its Security Directives and Emergency Amendment requiring mask use on public transportation and transportation hubs at this time. CDC recommends that people continue to wear masks in indoor public transportation settings.”
Earlier in the day, President Joe Biden’s press secretary, Jen Psaki, said the judge’s ruling was disappointing.’
