Tucker Carlson argues Russia is ‘thriving’ under Putin despite war – Washington Examiner
Tucker Carlson, during a discussion with Chris Cuomo on NewsNation, expressed that Russia is “thriving” under President Vladimir Putin, despite the ongoing war with Ukraine. carlson argued that leaders should be judged based on their performance in making their countries better, implying that Putin fulfills this role effectively. He mentioned that Russia is doing “better than Ukraine,” which is currently “under siege.” Cuomo challenged Carlson’s perspective, noting his seeming sympathy towards Putin over Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The two also touched on topics such as illegal immigration, with Carlson advocating for strict standards regarding crimes committed by illegal aliens. Tucker Carlson argues Russia is ‘thriving’ under Putin despite war
Tucker Carlson argued that Russia under President Vladimir Putin is “thriving,” contending that Putin is doing the “one job” required by presidents.
Carlson made the assessment during a discussion with NewsNation host Chris Cuomo, in which they covered a range of topics, including the war in Ukraine. The Fox News anchor-turned-podcaster suggested that Putin does not have “absolute control” over his country amid the war, to which Cuomo said he sounded more sympathetic to the Russian president than to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Well, I’m definitely more sympathetic to Putin than Zelensky for the following reason: I think it’s fair to judge leaders on how they do for their country,” Carlson argued on CUOMO. “They have one job. Do a good job for your country. Make it better.”
Cuomo pressed Carlson to see if he thinks Russia is doing well, to which Carlson argued the country is doing “better than Ukraine.” Cuomo pointed out that the smaller nation is “under siege,” though Carlson contended that Russia, despite being at war, is “thriving.”
President Donald Trump has warned that the United States could issue new tariffs and sanctions on Russia in a bid to get the country to negotiate an end to its war in Ukraine, which had its third anniversary last month.
WHAT BOTH SIDES GET WRONG ABOUT UKRAINE
The commentators also addressed illegal immigration, and Cuomo asked if Trump had created “a boogeyman” of this issue. Carlson argued that “a single crime by illegal aliens is unacceptable,” prompting Cuomo to deem this “a very convenient standard.” Carlson said he “didn’t sign up” to support any illegal immigrants financially.
The full discussion between Cuomo and Carlson will air on Monday, March 10, on NewsNation’s CUOMO at 8 p.m.
