Tucker Carlson recently expressed his condolences adn shared memories of his late father, Richard Warner Carlson, who passed away at the age of 84 after a brief, undisclosed illness. In a heartfelt post on social media, Tucker noted that his father faced his final days with “dignity and clarity,” appreciating the time spent with his family. Richard was known for being a “loyal” and “kind” man who had a triumphant career as an investigative reporter and anchor for ABC News,also serving in the administration of former President Ronald reagan. Many users on social media, including friends and colleagues, offered their sympathies and shared fond memories of Richard Carlson, celebrating his life and values.

Tucker Carlson paid respect to his late father on X, detailing how his father died “with dignity and clarity” following six weeks of illness

Richard Warner Carlson, 84, died on Monday after a brief illness that was previously not made public. Carlson revealed how his father would speak to him and his other son, Buckley, “every day” and also how he made it a priority to enjoy lunch with them once a week at Washington D.C.’s Metropolitan Club.

“Richard W. Carlson is survived by his sons, Tucker and Buckley, his beloved daughter-in-law Susie, and five grandchildren,” Carlson wrote on X. “He was the toughest human being anyone in his family ever knew, and also the kindest and most loyal. RIP.”

Carlson’s father’s worked as an investigative reporter and anchor for ABC News and in former President Ronald Reagan’s administration. He also spent years as the director of the recently dismantled Voice of America.

Carlson’s obituary on X has resulted in an outpouring of sympathy from X users, including from the Washington Examiner’s Salena Zito, who recalled how she met Carlson’s father at a funeral several years ago. 

“I’m so sorry for your loss,” Zito wrote on X. “I met your father years ago when he spoke very eloquently at the funeral for my late boss, Richard Mellon Scaife at Rolling Rock in western Pennsylvania. May his memory always be a blessing.”

“What an amazing life, and what a remarkable man,” Piers Morgan wrote. “My deepest condolences to you and your family, Tucker.”

“An incredible life,” White House Rapid Responder Greg Price wrote. “RIP.”

“Lifting a prayer up for the Carlson family today,” VINCE show host Vince Coglianese wrote. “Just wonderful people.”
