Turkey Puts Bounty On America-Loving Ex-NBA Star Enes Kanter Freedom

Freedom spoke out separately about how he changed his legal name to Enes Kante and became a U.S. citizen 2021. Freedom also stated that Ankara often puts lives at risk for dissidents.
“I’m not the only one,” Freedom The Turkish Minute. “There are so many innocent journalists, academics, athletes, activists, and educators on this list. Now their lives are in danger because of the Turkish government.”
Freedom has also criticised his homeland while slamming the NBA for its close relationship with China. He has clashed with NBA superstar LeBron James, who has been highly critical of the U.S., particularly during the Trump administration, but has defended Beijing’s human rights record. Freedom’s supporters believe his willingness to call out the league is the reason the 30-year-old athlete has not been on a team for over a year.

Most recently, Freedom was with the Boston Celtics from 2021-22. The 6-foot, 10-inch center averaged 11.2 point and 7.8 boards per game and has earned more than $100 million. He was the third overall pick of the NBA draft in 2011.
Freedom was an international player for Turkey’s national team between 2008-2015. However, Freedom became disillusioned after becoming disillusioned by the country, which is now more authoritarian under Erdogan.
