New York City TV Anchor Ruschell Boone Passes Away After Battle with Pancreatic Cancer
Ruschell Boone, a beloved and award-winning reporter and anchor for New York City TV station NY1, has sadly passed away at the age of 48 after a courageous fight against pancreatic cancer. The station announced her untimely death on Tuesday.
Joining NY1 in 2002 as a reporter covering Queens, Ms. Boone quickly made a name for herself and eventually moved to the anchor desk with a noon slot in 2021.

Described as a trusted friend by NY1, Ms. Boone had a unique ability to connect with New Yorkers both on screen and in person.
Throughout her career, she received numerous accolades, including a New York Press Club award for best feature reporting and a New York Emmy award for her series “New York: Unfiltered.”
After her cancer diagnosis, Ms. Boone took a leave from NY1 from June 2022 to March of this year to undergo intensive chemotherapy treatments.
Despite the challenges, she remained resilient and shared updates on her battle with cancer on social media. On July 27, she revealed that her cancer had spread to her liver but expressed gratitude for the support and prayers she had received.
Upon her return to NY1 in March, Ms. Boone conducted her first interview with New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who paid tribute to her on the station following her passing.
“We are all better people because we had a wonderful, wonderful person who reported to us and showed us that no matter how much pain you have, you can turn it into purpose,” said Mayor Adams. ”She didn’t say ‘Woe is me.’ She said ‘Why not me? I want to inspire others.’
Ms. Boone is survived by her husband, Todd Boone, and their two sons.
