Twitter CEO Elon Musk has once again made headlines, this time for allowing The Daily Wire’s controversial documentary “What is a Woman?” to be streamed on the platform. The move resulted in the resignation of Twitter’s head of trust and safety, Ella Irwin.

The Daily Wire had initially signed an agreement with Twitter to air the documentary for free for one day, with Twitter executives reviewing the content to ensure it wouldn’t cause backlash or “trigger” users. However, Twitter later terminated the agreement and warned that if the documentary was posted, they would limit its exposure to viewers.

Jeremy Boreing, CEO of The Daily Wire, criticized Twitter for backing out of the deal due to “two instances of ‘misgendering.'” Musk intervened and reportedly “chastised and corrected” the team that had cancelled the deal, allowing the documentary to be posted on the platform.

“Every parent should watch this,” Musk said, retweeting the documentary and pinning it to the top of his feed.

Irwin confirmed to Reuters that she had resigned from her role as head of trust and safety after the documentary premiered and was viewed over 78 million times on Twitter in the first 24 hours. As of Saturday, the documentary has been viewed over 133 million times on the platform.
