Twitter Says It Won’t Reinstate Trump After Elon Musk’s Addition to Board
With Elon Musk as its newest board member, Twitter said Tuesday it still does not have plans to reinstate Donald Trump’s account, while the former president’s own Truth Social platform reported significant growth in user engagement.
“We see people who have been banned from Twitter for life” and Truth Social is “going to be the home for all of those people” Trump Media & Technology Group CEO Devin Nunes told “Just the News – Not Noise” on Tuesday.
Twitter told DailyMail.com that the company is ” committed to impartiality in the development and enforcement of its policies and rules.”
The social media giant plans on sticking by its ban of Trump, who was permanently suspended from Twitter after the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
“Our policy decisions are not determined by the Board or shareholders, and we have no plans to reverse any policy decisions,” Twitter told DailyMail.com.
“As always our Board plays an important advisory and feedback role across the entirety of our service. Our day to day operations and decisions are made by Twitter management and employees,” the company stated.
Nunes, a former California representative, says he is not optimistic about Twitter’s future, even with billionaire CEO Musk on the board.
“I don’t foresee much changing at Twitter,” Nunes told editor-in-chief John Solomon and co-host Amanda Head.
He said Truth Social is “already getting massive engagement by the users” on the platform so far.
Nunes encouraged listeners to download the app and said “progress” has been made to bring it to the Google Play store soon.
