Twitter Users Call For Boycott Of Cosmetic Brand Over Partnership With Dylan Mulvaney
Maybelline is facing backlash from social media users on Twitter who are using the hashtag #BoycottMaybelline. The reason? The cosmetic brand recently partnered with biological male transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney. In March, Mulvaney posted a video on TikTok applying Maybelline makeup and announcing that the social media influencer was “getting glam,” according to CBS. This move has sparked outrage among some Twitter users who are calling for a boycott of the makeup company. One user tweeted, “Women have fought for years to get to where we are, women’s rights are being taken back by these men, and you support it. Please all of us born women let’s #boycottmaybeline.” Another posted, “Ok ladies, now @Maybelline is partnering with the degradation of women. #BoycottMaybeline.” This comes after a similar campaign against Anheuser-Busch, which confirmed a partnership with Mulvaney. Country stars like John Rich, Travis Tritt, and Kid Rock made headlines when they announced they were done with the brand over the Mulvaney controversy. Bud Light has reportedly seen sales plummet by 17 percent since the partnership. The Bud Light executive behind the decision to partner with Mulvaney reportedly took a leave of absence on Friday.
