Twitter Will Likely Play ‘Significant’ Role in Upcoming Elections: Musk
According to CEO Elon Musk, Twitter will probably have a” significant” impact on the 2024 presidential election and other national and international elections.
Musk made the remarks during a two-part meeting with Fox News host Tucker Carlson on April 17 and 18.
Musk added that it is still unclear whether it was a good idea to spend$ 44 billion on the platform last year.
The aim of the original Twitter is to be being impartial and rational as possible. Musk said, referring to new domestic and international elections,” I don’t favor any political ideology, but I’m’m satisfactory to everyone.”
Carlson again questioned Musk as to why Facebook, which was started by Mark Zuckerberg, does not adopt the same approach.
According to what I understand, Zuckerberg spent$ 400 million in the most recent election primarily in support of Democrats but also ostensibly in a get-out-the-vote system. Is that true or false? Do you think that sounds honest to you? Carlson was questioned by Musk and said that it was appropriate.
Musk was making reference to the$ 419 million that, according to reports, Zuckerberg and his wife gave the Centers for Technology and Civic Life and Election Innovation and Research before the 2020 election, which helped Democrats win the election.
Some Factors Are Valuable, they say.
Musk admitted that” currently, it is not” during his interview but said it was not yet clear whether his decision to buy Twitter last year was” materially good.”
Musk stated,” Some things are valuable, but we just revalued the industry for less than half of the acquisition price.” ” Whether you lose money or not, that is a minor concern in comparison to maintaining democracy’s’s strength, and free speech is the cornerstone of thriving democracies.”
When the government allegedly gained access to everything on Twitter last year, including users’ personal direct messages, the billionaire businessman added that he was shocked.
Musk told Carlson,” The degree to which authorities companies actively had full exposure to everything that was going on on Twitter blew my mind.” ” I was unaware of that ,” she said.
Carlson questioned Musk about whether this included users’ personal messages on the platform, to which he replied that it did.
Musk retorted,” Yes, because the direct messages [ DMs ] aren’t encrypted ,” without going into detail about which alleged government agencies had access to Twitter users’ private information.
” Twitter Files”
In order to delete free speech on a variety of subjects, including COVID-19, Musk has formerly made internal company information available on Twitter, known as the” Twitter docs,” to various reporters. These articles are said to have been created in collaboration between Washington and the platform.
