Two 7-Eleven workers probed for stopping armed thief: Report.
7-Eleven Workers Stop and Assault Suspected Thief
Two 7-Eleven workers in Northern California are currently under investigation by local police after taking matters into their own hands to apprehend a suspected thief. The incident, which occurred in Stockton, California, was captured on video and has since gone viral.
On July 29, around 2:45 a.m., an unnamed male wearing a mask entered the 7-Eleven store and began emptying the shelves into a large trash can, with the apparent intention of stealing the items. The suspect could be heard arguing with the employees and claiming to have a gun hidden behind his back.
One of the employees managed to pin the suspect to the ground, while the other repeatedly struck the suspect’s legs with a large wooden stick. The shocking scene was filmed by a witness named Louis Benton, who expressed his disbelief at what he was witnessing.

After the situation escalated, Benton decided to intervene and de-escalate the situation. He commended the employees for their courageous act in protecting their store but felt that the force used had become excessive.
In a recent update, the Stockton Police Department confirmed that they are investigating the incident. It was also revealed that the suspected thief had carried out two other robberies at the same 7-Eleven location within a 24-hour period.
According to authorities, the suspect stole packs of cigarettes on July 28 after threatening the clerk with a gun. The following night, he demanded money from an employee while claiming to be armed. When the employee refused, the suspect stole food items and left. Two hours later, he returned for the incident captured on video.
All the investigations have been linked, and the findings will be referred to the San Joaquin County district attorney for review.
Stockton, according to Blaze Media, ranks 3 out of 100 on Neighborhood Scout’s crime index, with 100 being the safest. The city has a high rate of violent crime, affecting 1 in every 79 people, and a significant likelihood of property crime, with 1 in 30 people experiencing it.
