Two killed in plane crash off Florida coast; more victims expected


Two individuals were killed, and more are expected after a small plane crashed off the Gulf Coast of Florida on Wednesday evening.

The bodies of two men in their 50s or 60s were found, and investigators believe that there were additional passengers on board the aircraft. The crash happened around 9:30 pm, approximately half a mile from the Venice Fishing Pier, according to Venice Fire Rescue.

The plane crashed shortly after departing from Venice Municipal Airport, according to investigators. The Venice police captain believes that there were additional passengers on board, according to WTSP.

“Marine units are looking for any other potential victims in the area,” the City of Venice, Florida, stated on Wednesday.

Diving teams are expected to search the water on Thursday morning.
