Tyler Cherry addresses past posts as part of his transition to White House – Washington Examiner
Tyler Cherry, the incoming associate communications director at the White House, is under scrutiny due to controversial social media posts he made in the past, which resurfaced after his new appointment was announced. Cherry responded to the controversy by stating on the platform X (formerly Twitter) that these old posts do not represent his current beliefs. He emphasized his commitment to supporting the administration’s agenda, specifically focusing on climate and environmental policies. He affirmed that his previous views have evolved and do not influence his professional responsibilities and objectives today.
Incoming White House associate communications director Tyler Cherry is under the microscope for social media posts he made that were circulated after it was announced he had got his new job.
Cherry said in a post on X that the views espoused in the prior posts were from when he was younger and “do not reflect my current views.”
Past social media posts from when I was younger do not reflect my current views. Period. I support this Administration’s agenda – and will continue my communications work focused on our climate and environmental policies.

“Past social media posts from when I was younger do not reflect my current views. Period. I support this Administration’s agenda — and will continue my communications work focused on our climate and environmental policies,” Cherry said on Sunday.
Since the posts surfaced, Cherry has wiped his X account, but several of the now-deleted posts have been reported by various outlets.
The various screenshots posted by users on X allege Cherry had posts criticizing police, U.S. support for Israel, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
In one 2015 post, he equated police to “slave patrols,” and later that year, he allegedly claimed “the modern day police system is a direct evolution of slave patrols and lynch mobs,” according to a screenshot of posts from Cherry.
“Abolish ICE,” he allegedly said in a post from January 2018.
Other past posts allegedly show Cherry opposing U.S. support of Israel while claiming the “occupation of Palestine” must be ended.
“Cheersing in bars to ending the occupation of Palestine — no shame and f*** your glares #ISupportGaza #FreePalestine,” Cherry allegedly said in a July 2014 post, according to Fox News.

Another set of screenshots allegedly included multiple posts in which he appeared to take issue with the number of white people in a group or event, including questioning why Iowa, which has a majority of white people, still had the first presidential primary contest.
Cherry previously worked in the communications department for the Interior Department, working for the Biden campaign in Arizona in 2020 and the left-leaning group Media Matters from 2015 until 2017.
