U.S. Air Force Base Holds Drag Queen Story Hour for Kids

Ramstein Air Force Base is holding a Drag Queen Story Time for kids. The event, hosted by the Ramstein & Vogelweh Air Force Libraries, will be held on June 2.

“We’re celebrating Pride Month at the Ramstein Library with Drag Queen Storytime!” The event details read. “Join us with special guest reader Stacey Teed! Be sure to wear your brightest and most colorful outfits!”

One mom of a toddler, whose husband is stationed at the base, told The Post Millennial that while she often takes her child to the library for story time, she was “shocked to see the Ramstein Air Force Base Library plans to hold an official drag queen story hour for children.”

“I find it wholly inappropriate that the MILITARY of all places will be using public funds to sexualize children,” she said.

The library hosted a drag story hour event in 2021, as well, featuring a reading from a woman dressed in male drag.

A drag queen, historically, “is a person, usually male, who uses costuming and makeup to imitate and often exaggerate female gender signifiers and gender roles for entertainment purposes.” Many drag queens have sexualized names, like Penny Tration.

Additional programming at the library shows much more kid-friendly events, such as story time without the drag, as well as Pokemon and LEGO themed events.

Typical story time events for kids show a grandma reading to kids.

Drag Queen Story Hour has become a phenomenon in recent years, with men dressing up in clownish, garish costumes of women to read to children. These events have been controversial in many places, and in places like New York City are funded with taxpayer dollars. Drag queens and kings are brought into libraries, schools, and other public spaces where they read to children about pronouns, gender identity, and other topics that many parents feel are inappropriate for children.

The US Air Force has recently been pushing a more “woke” agenda among servicemen. A memo sent to command teams and supervisors sought to create “safe spaces” for servicemen and women. There have been additional concerns posed by US congressmen that the progressive leaning of the military could have a negative impact on combat readiness.

Troops and munitions are being sent to Ramstein to assist the Ukrainian war effort against the invading force of neighboring Russia.

The Ramstein library was reached for comment.
