Uncle Sam mandates Covid jab for American citizenship.
Nearly a Million Immigrants Became American Citizens Last Year
According to CBS News, almost a million legal immigrants obtained American citizenship in 2022, marking the third-highest number in history. However, there’s an aspect of this news that hasn’t received much attention. Every single one of these immigrants had to fulfill a unique requirement before being granted citizenship: they had to receive a Covid booster shot.
The Expanding Scope of Immunization Requirements
The Immigration and Nationality Act, along with related federal regulations, initially mandated immunization against “vaccine-preventable diseases” from a public health perspective. However, these regulations have since been expanded to include immunization with any product recommended by CDC guidance, regardless of its effectiveness or potential harm. This requirement not only poses risks to individual recipients but also raises concerns about the unscientific nature of such mandates and their impact on the nation’s future.
A Personal Dilemma
As a pediatrician, I have been vocal about my concerns regarding mRNA vaccine studies and the imposition of Covid vaccine mandates, especially when it comes to protecting the children in my Texas community. However, as I progress through my own citizenship case, I am disheartened to discover that obtaining a Covid vaccine, with its potential side effects, has become a requirement for adoption by the United States.
The Consequences of Unscientific Mandates
Dr. Vinay Prasad highlights that Covid vaccines do not provide a favorable risk-benefit balance for healthy young men who have already had Covid. As someone who possesses natural antibodies from a previous asymptomatic infection, I find it unjust that the U.S. government accepts proof of natural immunity for various diseases but insists on Covid vaccination for citizenship.
An Unscientific Edict
Interestingly, this unscientific requirement applies not only to the unvaccinated but also to those who have diligently received boosters. Even immigrants who complied with CDC guidance throughout 2021 are still considered insufficiently vaccinated until they receive the updated bivalent booster. It seems that America wants no part of individuals who cannot keep up with the ever-changing booster recommendations.
The Impact on the Nation’s Character
While the United States has the right to set requirements for citizenship, it is essential to consider the kind of populace such regulations will produce. The lack of protests from the million new Americans who complied with an unnecessary booster last year raises questions about the values and principles of the future citizens we are welcoming.
A Plea for Consideration
I am not seeking entitlement or attempting to dictate terms to my new country. Instead, I humbly implore you to reflect on the type of nation we are building when we exclude those who question the prevailing narrative. Imagine if American immigration law favored individuals who resisted unscientific CDC guidance. Would we not prefer a populace of principled and courageous individuals rather than those who blindly follow every recommendation?
A Price Worth Paying
Despite my reservations, my love for America compels me to accept the jab as a necessary sacrifice. When the day comes for me to stand before an official, recite the oath, and proudly wave the flag as an American citizen, I may shed a tear. However, it will not be for myself but for a land that was once synonymous with freedom.
