US military officials choose troops for possible deployment to Israel.

The Pentagon Selects Troops for Potential Israel⁣ Deployment

The Pentagon has chosen troops that it ⁢may send‌ to the Middle East ‍to assist the Israeli⁤ Defense Forces in the event of an expected invasion of the Gaza Strip, according to a report.

On October 7, Hamas fighters launched a surprise attack on civilians in southern Israel, using air, sea, and ground forces, ⁣resulting in numerous casualties.

In addition, the terror group fired thousands of ⁤rockets.

Over the past 10 days, Israel has retaliated by striking targets not only in ⁣Gaza but also in Syria and southern Lebanon.

If Gaza faces a ground invasion, the Department of Defense has already identified around 2,000 American troops to be sent to the war zone, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

These troops will provide medical support and other non-combat⁣ assistance.

“The U.S. military has selected roughly 2,000 troops to ⁤prepare for a potential deployment to support Israel, U.S. defense officials said. The troops are tasked ⁣with missions like advising and medical support, the officials said, and they are from across the U.S. armed services.

“They aren’t intended to serve in a combat role, the officials said. No infantry have been put ‍on prepare-to-deploy order.”

Most of the selected troops are already in the ‍Middle East or stationed in Europe.

As Israel faces‍ an escalation in its war with Hamas, two U.S. Navy carrier strike groups are en route to the area.

It remains uncertain if the military campaign could lead to⁤ Israeli encounters with Lebanese or ⁣Syrian-based ‍fighters during a ground incursion.

However, Israelis have been living⁣ under constant threat from attacks originating ⁢from Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza for over a week.

According to The Times of Israel, Jerusalem was targeted by rocket fire on Monday afternoon, with sirens sounding in‌ both Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

As of Sunday, at least 1,300 Israelis have been reported killed, with more missing or taken ⁤hostage⁤ by Hamas, according to CNN.

Thirty Americans‌ have also ‌been killed,⁢ with more missing.
