US Military Shoots Down Unidentified Object Over Alaska

In a White House press conference, John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesperson, announced that the U.S. military shot down an unidentified object above Alaska on Friday. This news comes less than one week after the U.S. military downed a Chinese spy ball over the Atlantic Ocean.

While the Pentagon has not confirmed that the object is a balloon, officials stated it was at an altitude which could pose a danger to aircraft. Kirby claimed President Joe Biden ordered that the object be shot down “out of an abundance of caution.”

Biden’s quick response to the Chinese spy ball floated above the United States last week after he waited to remove it. Biden claimed that he didn’t regret taking it down for several days, but defense officials advised caution until the vessel reached open water.

“Experts in the intelligence community, defense community have forgotten more about it than you or I know,” Biden spoke in Telemundo interviews.

After being first reported in U.S. Airspace on Jan. 31, the balloon was launched over the Atlantic Ocean on February 4. The balloon crossed the Montana border and passed by nuclear and military facilities.

Republicans criticised Biden for his slow response to spy balloon. Mike Pompeo, former secretary of state Submitted In the Washington Free Beacon Biden’s “weakness with China is once again on display.”

“Biden must reassert American resolve, not continue to peddle American weakness,” Pompeo wrote.
