The United States Releases Footage of Russian Fighter Jets Harassing U.S. Drone in Syria

The United States has recently released compelling footage capturing the intense encounter between Russian fighter jets and a U.S. drone over Syrian airspace. This incident, which took place on Wednesday, has raised concerns due to the “unsafe and unprofessional behavior” exhibited by the Russian Su-35 fighter jet.

The Russian jet boldly maneuvered itself directly in front of the MQ-9 Reaper drone, causing disruption to the drone operator’s ability to control the aircraft. To exacerbate the situation, the fighter jet engaged its afterburners, further hindering the drone’s operation.

In a dramatic turn of events, one of the Su-35s dropped parachute flares directly in the path of the drone, forcing it to swiftly evade the potential danger.

“These events represent a new level of unprofessional and unsafe action by Russian air forces operating in Syria,” the text in the video emphasized, highlighting the threat posed to the safety of both U.S. and Russian forces.

It is worth noting that both the United States and Russia maintain a significant military presence in Syria. While U.S. forces support the local Kurds, Russian forces back the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

This recent incident echoes a similar occurrence in March, where a Russian jet operating over the Black Sea collided with a U.S. drone, resulting in the drone’s destruction.
