Vance has ‘proven to be smart pick’ as running mate: Sarah Bedford – Washington Examiner

In a recent discussion, Sarah Bedford, the investigations editor for the⁢ Washington‍ Examiner,⁣ praised Senator⁢ J.D.‍ Vance (R-OH) as ‍a strategic choice for ‍Donald Trump’s vice presidential running mate. Bedford indicated that Vance ‌has effectively highlighted issues under Vice President Kamala ‍Harris’s administration through various⁤ media appearances, showcasing his⁢ ability to hold her accountable, particularly during political debates. She noted that‍ Vance’s ⁣proactive⁤ media engagement contrasts with the relatively risk-free campaign ‌approach of his opponent, Governor Tim Walz (D-MN). Vance has ‘proven to be smart pick’ as Trump’s running mate: Sarah Bedford

Washington Examiner investigations editor Sarah Bedford suggested that Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) has successfully argued across multiple media interviews that problems facing the nation and the world have happened on Vice President Kamala Harris’s watch, proving he was a “smart” vice presidential pick by former President Donald Trump.

While appearing on The Evening Edit, Bedford was asked how Vance might hold Harris’s running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), accountable during Tuesday night’s debate.

“I think Vance has done that really successfully so far,” Bedford said. “He’s been blanketing traditional media and nontraditional media alike, while Walz has been kept kind of in a bubble and running a really risk-free campaign just like Kamala Harris.

“Vance has already successfully prosecuted that case for Donald Trump,” she continued. “I think he’s proven to be a smart pick by Trump for that reason. So, tonight I do think you can expect to see Vance really focus on the fact that he is running against incumbents who have failed.”

Vance and Walz are set to face off in the vice presidential debate Tuesday night. It is expected to be the final debate for both the presidential and vice presidential candidates ahead of the Nov. 5 election.

“I think it’s going to be an uphill battle for Tim Walz, frankly, because he is facing a tougher political landscape,” Bedford said. “The risk for him is that he reinforces this perception that he and Kamala Harris don’t stand for anything, that they don’t have any concrete beliefs, that they’ve shifted all of them for political expediency. And the fact that his personal biography has been riddled with misstatements really also reinforces that perception that they’re sort of a shape-shifting ticket on the Democratic side.”

Bedford added that Vance’s risk is that he would come off as too aggressive when making his arguments throughout the debate.

“Certainly, I think Walz has the toughest challenge,” Bedford said.
