VIDEO: Dozens Hospitalized After Massive Tornado Rips Through Little Rock

A massive tornado hit Little Rock, Arkansas on Friday afternoon, causing significant damage and injuring dozens of people who were taken to hospitals.

Several witnesses posted videos of the tornado from different angles as it passed through the area, leaving behind a trail of destruction. The footage shows precisely how powerful and frightening the tornado was as it ripped through homes, businesses, churches, and schools in Little Rock.

The catastrophe was so extreme that the city’s mayor, Frank Scott Jr., contacted the governor, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, for statewide assistance in dealing with the aftermath. Within minutes, Governor Huckabee had signed an executive order officially declaring that a state of emergency existed in Arkansas, as the response and recovery efforts began for the affected area.

Hospitals in Little Rock started receiving injured people soon after the tornado hit, and at the time of reporting, 24 people had been hospitalized, with reports of more injuries coming in. However, there have been no fatalities so far in the city, though many people sustained critical injuries.

Baptist Health medical centers in Little Rock and North Little Rock reported that they were already treating 21 patients who had been injured during the tornado. Reports indicate that many roofs have been ripped off homes and businesses, churches and schools have sustained heavy damages, vehicles have been flipped, and trees and street signs have been bent or brought down entirely. The New York Times reports that by Friday evening, roughly 90,000 people in Arkansas were still without electricity.
