VIDEO: Israel’s Sderot Police Station Under Day-Long Terrorist Siege
Israeli Officer Recounts Day-Long Firefight with Hamas from Site of Leveled Police Station
A police officer in the Israeli border city of Sderot vividly recalls the harrowing events of October 7th. It was just after six in the morning when he received an alert that the city was under terrorist attack. Without hesitation, he rushed to the police station to engage in a day-long firefight.
Standing in front of the remnants of the police station, the officer, Elad Buadana, shared his experience with The Daily Wire. “There was a big fight in here and gun shooting, and eight police officers died,” he said. “That’s what remains from the place I call home.”
Sderot, a city routinely targeted by rocket fire from Gaza, has become accustomed to such attacks. In fact, there was once a shelf displaying dozens of rockets fired at the city’s civilian population. However, the officer was taken aback when he learned that terrorists were on foot attacking the city.
Unbelievable Scenes of Chaos and Heroism
Recalling the moment he received the call to fight, Buadana said, “I took my gun, I reloaded, and I started to drive to the city. We saw a dead body on the sidewalk… we looked to the left and saw another one. It’s not something we are used to. We took care of the two bodies and then someone from the roof started shooting at us.”
Despite his desire to reach the police station and assist his fellow officers, Buadana was met with more gunfire. The police station appeared to be the main target of Hamas in Sderot, but documents recovered from a terrorist attack revealed larger plans. Hamas intended to take over several buildings in the city, including the fire department.
Terrorists managed to seize control of the police station, prompting the Israelis to make a difficult decision. They chose to destroy the entire station, eliminating the Hamas force and potentially thwarting any further operations in the city. The cost was high, with over 20 civilians, eight police officers, and 26 terrorists losing their lives near the police station.
Buadana personally witnessed the destruction of the police station by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). “The tank was here… and the helicopter came from the back side and they shot together on the police station,” he recounted. “If you tell me to write down a script to a movie, I could not write a script like that, but when you see it with your own eyes, it’s something.”
Tragically, many civilians in Sderot fell victim to Hamas’ ruthless attacks. One man, Amer Odeh Abu Sabila, sacrificed his life to save a mother and her two daughters. However, both he and the mother were killed when they arrived at the police station, as captured by a surveillance camera. The daughters, aged 6 and 3, miraculously survived by hiding on the floor of the car.
In another incident, elderly passengers waiting for their bus were mercilessly gunned down by Hamas terrorists. Among the victims were Holocaust survivors on their way to enjoy a day at the Dead Sea.
The officer, Buadana, admits that he is still haunted by the horrors he witnessed that day. “People are dying and I see their faces,” he said. “I see people I know: the taxi driver, the man from the market, I know them.” Overwhelmed by the sight of bodies in the streets, he briefly stepped away before returning to the site of the police station.
Despite the ceasefire, residents of Sderot remain cautious. Many request police officers to inspect their homes for hidden terrorists before they return. Some even ask for video footage of their empty homes to ease their fears. The city, equipped with scattered shelters and a population trained to seek safety within seconds, is slowly recovering.
In the absence of open stores, police officers have taken on the responsibility of delivering essential goods to those who remain in the city. Food, diapers, toilet paper, and other necessities are frequently brought to anyone who requests them.
Police in Sderot, a city on the border of Gaza, have been collecting common goods — diapers, formula, canned food — to deliver to residents who are unable to flee. Sderot is one of the main targets of Palestinian rocket attacks

What measures could be taken to ensure the ongoing safety of Sderot’s inhabitants in the face of constant rocket attacks?
Veillance camera.
The bravery and resilience displayed by the Israeli police officers in Sderot is truly commendable. Facing constant threats from rocket attacks, they continue to put their lives on the line to protect their city and its inhabitants. The events of October 7th serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing struggle between Israel and terrorist organizations like Hamas.
While the destruction of the police station was a devastating blow, it was necessary to prevent further violence and takeover by Hamas. The IDF’s swift and decisive action ensured that the terrorists’ plans were thwarted and that the people of Sderot can sleep a little safer at night.
However, it is important to remember the high price that was paid. The loss of civilians and police officers is a tragedy that should never be forgotten. Their sacrifice must serve as a constant reminder of the need to continue the fight against terrorism and to ensure the safety and security of innocent lives.
As we honor the brave men and women who risk their lives every day to protect their communities, it is crucial that we stand in solidarity with Israel. The international community must condemn terrorist attacks and support Israel’s efforts to defend itself against such threats.
The account of Officer Elad Buadana sheds light on the indomitable spirit of the Israeli people. Despite facing constant danger, they remain resilient and deeply committed to preserving their way of life. The events of October 7th may have left scars, but they have also strengthened the resolve of the Israeli people.
Sderot may be a city that is frequently targeted by terrorist attacks, but its residents refuse to be defined by fear. They continue to live their lives, rebuilding what has been destroyed, and supporting one another in the face of adversity. Their courage and determination serve as an inspiration to us all.
As the world continues to grapple with the scourge of terrorism, the story of the day-long firefight between Israeli officers and Hamas in Sderot serves as a reminder of the price that is paid in the pursuit of peace and security. It is a story that must be told, shared, and remembered so that we never forget the sacrifices made by those who protect and defend our societies.
