Video of Sean Penn Calling for the Unvaccinated To Be Imprisoned and Jobless Resurfaces
Sean Penn is able to make some of the most absurd and nonsensical statements possible in his preachy, woke, activist career. A video recently released by the actor from Hollywood showing him proposing to jail all those who refuse to be vaccinated against COVID-19 may just take the cake.
In an interview with Extra from August of 2021 — whilst promoting his film Flag Day — host Cheslie Kryst asked Penn about his thoughts on “anti-vaccine rhetoric.” The actor said, “It’s a cowardice of conviction,” He admitted that he would hate to see the people who refuse to be vaccinated losing jobs before he shamelessly admitted it.
He elaborated, “I think it’s an unwillingness to engage in a cultural common sense that at this point it seems criminal to me, actually, I really feel that if someone chooses not to be vaccinated then they should choose to stay home; not go to work, not have a job.”
“As long as we’re all paying for these streets, we’ve got to ride safely on them. So, I’m just hopeful that the mindset will change — and it’s started,” According to the actor, he claimed to be a woke actor and that he was specifying that “there are some examples of leadership that are being helpful but we’ve really got to get everyone else… everybody on the same page and I think the CDC should be much more clear.”
The actor would then appear on CNN a few more weeks later and make further infuriating comments about vaccine mandates. He implied that the act of refusing to get inoculated against COVID-19 could be compared to “refraining from getting inoculated”. “pointing a gun in somebody’s face.”
“I do believe that everyone should get vaccinated. I believe it should be mandatory,” Penn told CNN’s Michael Smerconish before he claimed that those who are “vax-resistant” are putting everybody else in danger.
“I have some areas of strong belief in the Second Amendment. But I think that you need to recognize how — with something like this — you can’t go around pointing a gun in somebody’s face, which is what it is when people are unvaccinated.”

This wasn’t the first time the woke Hollywood actor made such a nonsensical comparison. In July of 2021 Penn criticised the Trump administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, making multiple outrageous claims in the process.
“We were — not only as a country, but as a world – let down and openly neglected, misinformed,” Penn said at the time. “We had truth and reason assaulted under what was in all terms an obscene administration.”
He added, “When my team and I would come home from test and vaccinations sites at night, particularly during testing under Trump, to maddening news — it felt like someone with a machine gun gunning down communities that were most vulnerable from a turret at the White House.”
Penn’s totalitarian ideas to fight the COVID-19 pandemic shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering that he was a fervent supporter of former and current Venezuelan dictators Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro; whom he considers to be friends.
In March of 2010, the actor not only defended the late Chávez, but also demanded journalists calling him a dictator to be jailed on the grounds of perjury. Chávez is best known for nationalizing multiple Venezuelan industries, including the oil industry, while cutting off foreign investments, which plunged the country into an economic nightmare where citizens were eventually forced to eat their pets to survive.
“Every day, this elected leader is called a dictator here, and we just accept it, and accept it. And this is mainstream media. There should be a bar by which one goes to prison for these kinds of lies,” Penn told Bill Maher during an episode of Real Time, via The Guardian, adding, “We are hypnotised by the media.”
He would then daringly inquire, “Who do you know here who’s gone through 14 of the most transparent elections on the globe, and has been elected democratically, as Hugo Chávez?” Following the passing of Chávez in 2013, the woke actor openly voiced his support for current President of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro, whom the Organisation of American States officially described as a dictator in September of 2019.
“Today the people of the United States lost a friend it never knew it had. And poor people around the world lost a champion,” read a statement issued by the actor regarding the death of Chávez.
Penn’s statement continued, “I lost a friend I was blessed to have. My thoughts are with the family of President Chávez and the people of Venezuela,” later expressing his full support for Maduro, stating, “Venezuela and its revolution will endure under the proven leadership of Vice President Maduro.”
Even more fascinating is the fact that Penn hasn’t criticised Venezuela’s COVID-19 response. How could he? President Nicolás Maduro has reportedly made the pertinent data a state secret. In the early days of the pandemic, the South American country’s death toll was deemed “not credible” by Human Rights Watch director José Miguel Vivanco.
“We believe the figures and the statistics that the Venezuelan government is providing – Maduro’s statistics – are absolutely absurd and are not credible,” said Vivanco in May of 2020, as Venezuela reported its first Covid-19 cases in March of that year and had only confirmed 1,121 cases and 10 deaths.
In January of 2022, Reuters reported that Venezuela’s opposition accused the dictator of “unilaterally changing the destination of medication and equipment provided by the Pan American Health Organization,” apparently done so in what was described as a “clear violation” of an agreement to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of January 2023, Venezuela’s COVID-19 death toll could still be considered “not credible” with a total of 5,832 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, as per information collected by Statista, considering that Venezuela’s population is 28,232,867 as of Thursday the 12th of January, 2023, according to Worldometer.
