Video Shows Moment 700-Pound Gator Bolts Out Of Water And Attacks 85-Year-Old Florida Woman
A Wednesday afternoon video captures the terrifying moment when a 10-foot alligator explodes out of an alleyway. Florida This week, a pond was swept over an 85-year old woman walking her dog.
Gloria Serge was Walking Her small dog was at her community retention pond at Spanish Lakes Fairways on Monday, around noon, when she became involved in the incident.
Local media reported that the alligator weighed 700 pounds. It then rushed out of water and attempted to grab her dog. Serge tried to fight the alligator but it pushed her over and grabbed her foot, dragging her into the water.
The incident was captured on video. The video does NOT show the alligator torturing the woman.

[embedded content]Robert Lilly is a specialist in trapping alligators in the State. He said it was difficult for officials recover the body of the woman, and then remove the animal out of the pond.
“It was definitely a fight. [We] snagged him on the bottom. He never surfaced,” Lilly claimed. “He stayed down the whole time. We were able to get a second hook in him and a hard line in him so we could get him up.”

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, alligators remain on the federal endangered species listing but can still be found throughout the state.
“Alligators occur in all 67 counties in Florida and can be found in practically all fresh and brackish water bodies and occasionally in salt water,” According to the state agency. “Although exact population figures are not known, Florida has a healthy and stable population of about 1.3 million alligators of every size. This population estimate is based on an estimated 6.7 million acres of suitable habitat.”
