Videos showing dozens of Democratic senators reading same anti-Trump script go viral – Washington Examiner
The recent political climate has seen a surge in the use of social media by Democratic senators to counter President Donald Trump’s claims. On the day of his first speech to Congress as taking office for a second term, numerous Democratic senators simultaneously shared videos fact-checking Trump’s assertion that he would lower prices “on day one” of his presidency.
The coordinated effort, endorsed by the Democratic Strategic Communications Committee, featured clips of Trump making his promise, followed by each senator stating, ”S*** that ain’t true,” with one senator opting for the phrase “wicked false.” They highlighted that instead of lowering prices, inflation has increased, affecting the cost of essentials like groceries and gas. The senators criticized Trump for not fulfilling his promises and accused him of supporting billionaires at the expense of everyday Americans.
the initiative quickly went viral, but it faced backlash for a perceived lack of originality in its execution, prompting some commentators, including Rep. Nancy Mace and Elon Musk,to mock the uniformity of the videos. Musk even jokingly offered a Cybertruck for the first person who could prove who authored the script used in the videos. this moment reflects the ongoing political tensions and the strategic use of digital platforms in modern political discourse.
Videos showing dozens of Democratic senators reading same anti-Trump script go viral
A social media campaign took Democratic senators by storm Tuesday, with dozens of them simultaneously posting videos of themselves reading from the same script.
The message came just hours before President Donald Trump‘s first speech to Congress since taking office for the second time. While Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) will offer the Democratic response following Trump, the Democratic Strategic Communications Committee promoted its effort to flood social media with the message.
“This morning, dozens of Senate Democrats simultaneously posted a video fact-checking Trump’s broken promise to lower prices ‘on day one’ across their social media platforms. The video begins with footage of Trump at a press conference last year promising to ‘immediately bring prices down, starting on day one’ of his presidency — a promise he echoed numerous times leading up to the November election,” a statement from the committee said.
The video, posted to the individuals’ Instagram and TikTok profiles, begins the same way: with a clip of Trump from last year saying, “When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on Day One.” Then, every senator follows it up with, “S*** that ain’t true, that’s what you just saw.” There was one exception: Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA), who, at 78 years old, opted to switch out the curse words for “wicked false.”
“Since Day One of Donald Trump’s presidency, prices are up, not down. Inflation is getting worse, not better. Prices of groceries, gas, housing, rent, eggs — they’re all getting more expensive,” the senators say. “Meanwhile, Donald Trump has done nothing to lower costs for you. Instead, he’s done things like pardon violent criminals who beat police officers on January 6th. He’s letting Elon Musk take a chainsaw to vital government programs for Americans and giving him access to Americans’ most sensitive data– Social Security numbers, tax returns, healthcare records, and more.”
They go on to accuse Trump and Musk of “cutting critical services for you in order to make room for more tax cuts for billionaires like them” because “the Republican plan is simple: you lose, and billionaires win.”
Several edits of all the available videos mashed into one clip immediately picked up steam. The post drew criticism for its lack of creativity and left many wondering who wrote the script.
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) mocked the group, writing on X, “Not one original thought, ever.”
BRIAN MAST MOCKS PROTEST AT TRUMP ADDRESS AS ‘MOURNING FOR THE DEMOCRAT PARTY’
“Now we’re up to 22 Dem senators all doing the same cringe video simultaneously!” Elon Musk wrote on X. “I will buy a Cybertruck for anyone can provide proof of who wrote this particular piece of propaganda. First person to post proof in the replies to this post gets the truck!”
Markey announced that he would be boycotting Trump’s address on Tuesday. Trump is scheduled to speak at 9 p.m. ET.
