Virginia Rep. Jennifer Wexton Diagnosed With Parkinson’s Disease

Virginia Representative Jennifer Wexton shared on Twitter that she has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease on April 11th, which is World Parkinson’s Day. Despite her diagnosis, she is “feeling good and staying strong.”

In a video accompanying her tweet, she revealed how the disease has impacted her primarily in the way she speaks and moves, including walking and keeping her balance. However, she insisted that she won’t let it stop her from being a working mom as well as an active member of their community. She has a positive attitude and expressed gratitude for the strong support of her family, friends, and loved ones in helping her fight the disease.

Parkinson’s disease is a disorder that mainly causes uncontrollable movements such as tremors or shakes and stiff muscles. After sharing her diagnosis, Rep. Wexton has expressed that she wants to use her position to raise more awareness of the disease and increase resources in finding a cure.
