VP Harris Avoids the Border During Arizona Trip
On Thursday, Vice President Kamala Harris visited Arizona. She did not visit the U.S. border with Mexico despite it being an important part of her responsibilities.
Harris was asked about why she had not gone to the southern border of the state.
“I am here to talk about what we are doing around bringing down the cost to American families and creating jobs. Let me say on the border that it is one of our highest priorities,” Harris said.
“I visited the border, I will not on this trip, and I will again,” She continued.
Harris visited El Paso Sector in the past when it wasn’t one of the most affected areas in 2021. The Rio Grande Valley Sector witnessed the most activity that time. The President Joe Biden also visited El Paso when there was more concern about the crisis due to an increase in illegal crossings. However, both have yet to visit areas in Arizona where there has been increased activity similar as Texas.
The Tucson Sector is one the largest sectors for the number of “gotaways,” Attempted “gotaways,” The amount of fentanyl that is being intercepted at ports-of-entry. Due to the large number of people crossing, Border Patrol has had to tax local services.
Three Points Station Motorcycle Unit responded in force to a group comprising suspected migrants who were attempting to cross the border near Alvarez Mts. Seven migrants were apprehended Saturday.
