The Washington Post has uncovered a new suspect in the attack on Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
In a recent article, the paper alleged that 48-year-old Roman Chervinsky, a former colonel in the Ukrainian Special Forces, played a significant role in planning the attack.
The report revealed that the colonel received orders from Ukraine’s top general at the time, but it also stated that President Volodymyr Zelensky was unaware of the operation.
Meanwhile, Russian officials expressed concern over the report, emphasizing that Ukraine’s allies should be worried about the apparent lack of control over the country by the Zelensky administration.
“Ukrainian traces of this sabotage, this terrorist act are appearing more and more in various investigations, media reports, it is really so,” Dmitry Peskov, Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation said. “We usually look into them with great attention. However, those who conduct the investigation, must take this into consideration and not silence this topic, but strive to make the result of the investigation public. They need to name those who are guilty, those who performed, coordinated and ordered it. All those names must be announced.”
Other reports have highlighted that The Washington Post has changed its stance multiple times regarding the perpetrator of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline attack.
Initially, it blamed Russia for the attack and denied any prior knowledge by the United States. However, its reports later shifted the blame to Ukraine.

With the changing stance of The Washington Post on the perpetrator of the attack, what impact does it have on the credibility of their reporting on this issue
In a recent article published by The Washington Post, a new suspect has been uncovered in the attack on Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline. According to the paper, 48-year-old Roman Chervinsky, a former colonel in the Ukrainian Special Forces, played a significant role in planning the attack.
The report revealed that Chervinsky received orders from Ukraine’s top general at the time, but it also stated that President Volodymyr Zelensky was unaware of the operation. This revelation has caused concern among Russian officials, who have emphasized that Ukraine’s allies should be worried about the apparent lack of control over the country by the Zelensky administration.
Dmitry Peskov, the Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, commented on the matter stating, “Ukrainian traces of this sabotage, this terrorist act are appearing more and more in various investigations, media reports, it is really so. We usually look into them with great attention. However, those who conduct the investigation must take this into consideration and not silence this topic but strive to make the result of the investigation public. They need to name those who are guilty, those who performed, coordinated, and ordered it. All those names must be announced.”
Interestingly, other reports have highlighted that The Washington Post has changed its stance multiple times regarding the perpetrator of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline attack. This raises questions about the accuracy and credibility of the newspaper’s reporting on this issue.
As the investigation into the attack on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline continues, it is essential for all parties involved to prioritize transparency and accountability. The truth regarding the individuals responsible for this act of sabotage must be brought to light to ensure justice is served and to prevent any further disruptions to critical energy infrastructure projects.
