Warren claims ‘most’ of Senate sees Gabbard as threat

Senator ⁢Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has expressed significant ⁣concerns regarding Tulsi Gabbard’s ⁢potential confirmation as Director of National ⁣Intelligence under President Donald Trump. During an interview on ABC’s The View, Warren stated that most senators view Gabbard as ‍a security risk, referencing her connections and suggesting that evidence indicates she might potentially be sympathetic to‍ Vladimir Putin. Gabbard, a former ⁤Democratic representative, is slated for a confirmation hearing. Warren⁢ emphasized the critical responsibilities associated with the director position, which involves managing sensitive intelligence and domestic security ‌information. Warren’s stance ⁢aligns with broader apprehensions in the Senate about Gabbard’s suitability for overseeing national security matters. Despite the skepticism surrounding Gabbard’s ⁣nomination, reports suggest Trump remains supportive of⁤ her, citing her loyalty to him. Warren confirmed her ‍intent to oppose both Gabbard’s and Robert F.kennedy Jr.’s confirmations.

Elizabeth Warren claims ‘most’ of Senate sees Tulsi Gabbard as a security threat

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said she is among the majority of senators who see Tulsi Gabbard as a security threat if she is confirmed as the director of national intelligence.

President Donald Trump picked the former Democratic representative in the early days after he won the election. With Gabbard’s hearing slated for Thursday, Warren appeared remotely for an interview on ABC News’s The View to discuss the former lawmaker’s chances of being confirmed.

“Senator Warren, it’s a very busy day on Capitol Hill, and another high-profile hearing taking place is Tulsi Gabbard for director of national intelligence,” host Alyssa Farrah Griffin said. “Do you believe she’ll be confirmed? Is there any sort of bipartisan concerns about her running our national security apparatus?”

“Listen, there are plenty of concerns. Most everybody in the Senate understands the threat she poses. And I just want to make sure everyone understands the job she would have here. She would be the number one person in charge of all of our secrets, right? All of our intelligence, everything we gather from around the world and every one of our allies around the world who feed us information, which makes our information more valuable,” Warren replied.

“And that’s how we make decisions about where to move, where risks are, where our armies need to be, all of that. She would be the person at the top, and there are a lot of folks who just believe the evidence shows she’s in Vladimir Putin’s pocket. So here’s the deal. It’s just like with RFK,” Warren said.

Warren was referring to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who had his first hearing Wednesday. During the hearing, Warren accused Kennedy of having the opinions he does of vaccines for his own financial benefit. The Office of Government Ethics provided an agreement with Kennedy that allows him to retain a 10% contingency fee with Wisner Baum so long as cases do not involve the federal government.

Wisner Baum is suing pharmaceutical company Merck over its human papillomavirus vaccine Gardasil, which protects against cervical cancer. Kennedy has profited more than $2.5 million in the last two years alone with firm Wisner Baum.

Trump maintains his support for Gabbard despite critcism of her, per a source who spoke to the Washington Examiner. The source said that she will be confirmed because “she’s been loyal” to the president.

The Massachusetts senator reiterated her commitment not to confirm either Gabbard or Kennedy.
