Rep. Loudermilk confirms that all J6 witness video depositions have mysteriously disappeared
Republican Congressman Claims Capitol Incursion Video Depositions Are Missing
A Republican congressman has revealed that the video recordings of depositions made to the Democrat-led House panel investigating the Capitol incursion have mysteriously disappeared. According to Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., chairman of the House Administration oversight subcommittee, all of the videotapes are gone, as reported by Just the News.
Loudermilk emphasized the significance of this revelation, stating that it is now impossible to verify the accuracy of the remaining transcripts. He pointed out that Cassidy Hutchinson, a witness who testified against former President Donald Trump, made revisions to her testimony months after her original appearance, as mentioned in Just the News.
Democrats’ star witness Cassidy Hutchinson’s significant changes to her testimony raise serious questions about her credibility and the information she provided to the J6 Select Committee.

Loudermilk revealed that the discovery of the missing videos occurred early in the investigation when someone contacted him in search of information from one of the tapes. Despite searching, they found none. Loudermilk then wrote a letter to Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson, the panel’s chair, requesting the tapes. Thompson confirmed that the tapes were not preserved, believing it unnecessary. However, according to House rules, any data, information, and documents used in an official proceeding must be preserved, as stated in House Rule VI.
Although portions of the tapes were aired during televised hearings, indicating their existence, Loudermilk believes they are still out there somewhere. The search for these missing videos continues, as they are crucial for House Republicans to observe witness testimonies and review the content.
Loudermilk mentioned that the panel sent some transcripts to the White House and the Department of Homeland Security. However, when the transcripts were returned, they were heavily redacted, leaving House Republicans unaware of the details and the individuals involved.
The testimony is being used in the federal prosecution against Trump, accusing him of interfering with the 2020 election. The Tennessee Star reported that Cassidy Hutchinson’s initial testimony in February 2022 did not include an anecdote she later shared during public proceedings in June. The anecdote alleged that former President Donald Trump attempted to take control of the presidential vehicle when the driver refused to take him to the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Trump has consistently denied the truthfulness of this story.
These changes made by Hutchinson were among 15 pages of revisions she made. In a book published after her appearance, she attempted to explain the discrepancy, stating that she had withheld information before retaining new lawyers. She claimed that she had not provided the complete truth to the congressional committee investigating a matter of national importance.

What measures will be implemented to ensure that protocols for preserving all records related to an investigation are followed in the future, in order to prevent the mishandling or intentional destruction of evidence
Formal request was made by Loudermilk for the preservation of all records related to the investigation, including video depositions.
The disappearance of these video recordings raises serious concerns about the transparency and reliability of the investigation into the Capitol incursion. Video evidence is crucial in corroborating witness testimonies and ensuring the accuracy of the transcripts. Without the videos, it is challenging to verify the veracity of the statements made during the depositions.
The case of Cassidy Hutchinson, a witness who made significant revisions to her testimony, highlights the importance of having access to the original video recordings. Her changes raise doubts about her credibility and the accuracy of the information she provided to the committee. Without the ability to review the original footage, it becomes impossible to determine the reasons behind these revisions or whether they were made in good faith.
The missing video depositions also call into question the integrity of the investigation as a whole. It is essential for such a high-profile investigation of a significant event to preserve all relevant evidence. The disappearance of these tapes raises concerns about potential tampering or withholding of information. The lack of transparency in this regard undermines the public’s trust in the process and calls the legitimacy of the investigation into question.
Furthermore, the fact that the tapes were not preserved despite a formal request from a congressman raises concerns about the management and oversight of the investigation. House rules mandate the preservation of all records related to an investigation, and it is deeply troubling that these protocols were not followed in this case. This raises questions about the competence and accountability of those responsible for handling the evidence.
In light of these revelations, it is imperative that a thorough investigation be conducted into the disappearance of the video depositions. The integrity of our democratic processes and the trust of the American people are at stake. Those responsible for the mishandling or intentional destruction of evidence must be held accountable.
The American public deserves a fair and transparent investigation into the Capitol incursion. The missing video recordings not only undermine the credibility of the remaining transcripts but also cast doubt on the entire process. It is crucial that steps be taken to rectify this situation and ensure that all relevant evidence is preserved and made available to the public.
Only by addressing these concerns and ensuring the integrity of the investigation can we hope to restore faith in our democratic institutions and uphold the principles of justice and transparency. The missing video depositions must be found, and those responsible for their disappearance must be held accountable for their actions. Only then can we move forward with a thorough and impartial investigation into the events that took place at the Capitol on that fateful day.
