WATCH: Byron Donalds calls potential Trump indictment ‘flat out wrong’
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) criticized the potential indictment of former President Donald Trump, calling it a part of the “gotcha mentality” in the current legal system.
“I think this is one of the worst uses of the justice system we’ve ever seen. This kind of two-tier prosecution, this gotcha mentality with the criminal justice system, is flat out wrong,” said the congressman on Sunday.
TRUMP SAYS HE EXPECTS TO BE ARRESTED NEXT WEEK IN STORMY DANIELS INVESTIGATION
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, former President Donald Trump predicted that he was going to be arrested on Tuesday and called the Manhattan District Attorney’s office “corrupt and highly political.”
His prediction came after several reports that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is preparing to indict him on charges related to the investigation into alleged hush-money payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016.
“There have been in the past uses of the criminal justice system in America that have been wrong. It’s been about targeting, it’s been wrong. Two wrongs don’t make a right,” said Donalds to host Maria Bartiromo.
The Florida Republican predicted that an indictment would “descend all of America into further chaos.”
“What Alvin Bragg is doing is wrong. He shouldn’t be going after Donald Trump, period,” he added.

Twitter executive Elon Musk predicted that if the former president were to be indicted, he would win the election in a “landslide” in 2024.
Legal experts, including constitutional attorney Jonathan Turley, analyzed that Bragg has “a number of flaws” in his case against Trump and predicted that if he were convicted, there would be “significant appellate challenges and reviews.”
