WATCH: Chasten Buttigieg calls Mike Pence’s family values into question after joke

Chasten Buttigieg, tOn Thursday’s episode, Pete Buttigieg’s husband addressed a joke made by Mike Pence. The View.

Buttigieg stated to the hosts “The thing about what he said is it flies in the face of what he says he is. He says he’s a family values Republican.”

Pence made a joke about Pete’s taking at the Gridiron dinner last week “maternity leave” After the birth of his children.

“When Pete’s two children were born, he took two months’ maternity leave whereupon thousands of travelers were stranded in airports, the air traffic system shut down, and airplanes nearly collided on our runways,” Pence said.

“Pete is the only person in human history to have a child and everyone else gets postpartum depression,” He added.

The View Following the White House’s lead, hosts attacked remarks made by the former vice president in Tuesday’s episode.

“I don’t think he’s practicing what he preaches here,” Buttigieg explained. “But It’s part of a much bigger trend, I think, attacking families.”

He stated that Pence was not just an attack against the LGBT community. He stated that Pence was in fact “taking a swipe at all women and all families.”

“Expecting that women would stay home and raise children, I think, is a pretty misogynistic view, especially from a man who just last year said we should be supporting more people that adopt,” He said so.

“It’s not woke, you know, to say that something is homophobic or misogynistic. It doesn’t make it woke, you know, it doesn’t make you a snowflake to tell someone that they’ve made a mistake,” Buttigieg explained to the hosts.

He also claimed that “it’s an extremely dangerous time,” Claim that states are targeting “trans kids.”

“What they’ve really done is — and they’ve done quite a good job — it’s been a very well-coordinated and well-funded effort to attack the LGBT community, specifically with the book bans,” He explained.

Buttigieg also accused politicians and states of going. “after extremely vulnerable kids, especially trans kids.”

“It’s hard enough being in school as it is. But to be a transgender kid in school and you have this coordinated effort by people who are going after them because they don’t know what else to talk about. They need an enemy. And right now, they’ve decided to make children their enemy,” He said.
