Columbia University president Minouche Shafik in a House congressional hearing on Wednesday declared her personal commitment to confronting the explosion of anti-Semitism on campus. As Shafik gave her testimony, dozens of Columbia students protested throughout the school’s campus with chants of “intifada” and “there is only one solution.”

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) asked Shafik if she had “seen a protest saying ‘we are against Jewish people,’” to which Shafik responded, “No.” Also on Wednesday, Jewish students at Columbia reported that protesters chanted “death to the Zionist state” and “we’re all Hamas.”

Omar’s daughter was one of several students suspended by the university Thursday for her involvement with the anti-Israel protest encampment on the university’s lawn.
