WATCH: Crenshaw calls Manhattan DA’s case against Trump ‘as weak as it can get’

Representative Dan Crenshaw, a Texas Republican, spoke out against Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against former President Donald Trump, characterizing it as weak and politically motivated. Crenshaw made these comments during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “This is just very clearly a very weak case,” he said. “You don’t have to be a lawyer to look at this case and think it’s on pretty weak grounds.” Crenshaw also questioned whether the DA would even consider the case if it were about someone other than Trump.

Crenshaw also criticized Bragg’s record as prosecutor, citing the district attorney’s lack of action on serious cases like violent crime and prostitution rings. Bragg’s policies have been more focused on finding alternatives to incarceration and reducing sentences, rather than prosecuting criminals. The city has experienced a significant increase in crime, with major felonies rising by 26% between 2021 and 2022, according to the Crime Prevention Research Center.

Bragg’s case against Trump remains unknown, but Crenshaw still believes that it is personally motivated, despite the CNN host’s objections. Crenshaw also stated that former presidents should not be immune to criminal charges in general.
