Tennessee Couple Discovers Venomous Snake in Baby’s Stroller
A Tennessee couple had a terrifying encounter last month when they found a venomous snake in their baby’s stroller. The snake, identified as a copperhead, attempted to strike at the couple but fortunately, they escaped unharmed. The couple expressed their relief at spotting the snake before it could harm their infant.
Autumn and Tyler Maidlow from Greenbrier, Tennessee, shared their story with WZTV in Nashville. They were grateful that the snake was killed and that their family remained safe.
The incident occurred when Tyler took their baby for a walk in the stroller and accidentally left the garage open. When Autumn returned home with groceries, they brought the baby inside and had dinner. It was during this time that the snake slithered into their garage and made its way into the stroller.
Autumn managed to capture footage of the snake curled up in the stroller. The snake was later removed safely by Tyler, who killed it with a shovel outside.
Reflecting on the incident, Autumn warned others to keep their garage doors closed and ensure there are no obstructions in their child’s belongings. Copperheads are common in North America and while their venom is mild compared to other snakes, they are known for their aggression and are responsible for most snake bites in the country.
Despite the scare, the Maidlow family is grateful that they were able to protect their child from harm.

“[Tyler] walked past the wagon and when he walked back in, he noticed the snake on the ledge of the wagon and right when he looked at it, it struck at him and he jumped back and hit my car,” Autumn Maidlow recalled.
The New York Post obtained the video of the incident, which was shared online.
Tyler successfully removed the snake from the stroller and killed it outside with a shovel. Autumn issued a warning to others, advising them to keep their garage doors closed and maintain a clear and clean environment to prevent similar incidents.
Copperheads, while not as venomous as other snakes, are known for their aggressive nature and lack of warning signs before striking. They blend in with their surroundings and are approximately three feet in length. However, they play a role in controlling rodent populations.
Overall, the Maidlow family considers themselves fortunate to have avoided any harm and hopes their story serves as a cautionary tale for others.
