VIDEO: Psaki implies GOP oversight chair is influenced by foreign agent.
Former White House Press Secretary Accuses House Oversight Committee Chairman of Co-optation by Foreign Agent
In a foreign agent.”>recent interview aired on Sunday, former White House press secretary Jen Psaki made a bold claim, suggesting that House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer (R., Ky.) is ”being co-opted by a foreign agent.” Psaki raised this concern while speaking with Rep. Jamie Raskin (D., Md.) on her MSNBC show Inside with Jen Psaki.
Psaki’s statement referred to Gal Luft, a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen who has recently been indicted by New York prosecutors for acting as an unregistered foreign agent. Luft is accused of brokering arms deals for Chinese companies and violating sanctions against Iran, among other charges. Republicans in the Oversight Committee, under Comer’s leadership, had considered Luft a crucial witness, claiming that he possessed damaging information regarding corruption within the Biden family.
Both Raskin and Psaki have a history of making unfounded allegations, such as their claims that former president Donald Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election. Raskin even called for the revocation of Jared Kushner’s security clearance, who served as a senior adviser to Trump. Meanwhile, Psaki tweeted in 2017 that there was “a lot we know” about Trump-Russia connections.
When confronted with Psaki’s suggestion, Raskin did not directly address it. Instead, he expressed his concern about the House Oversight Committee’s compromised state under Chairman Comer’s leadership, stating that their legitimacy is being eroded by the tactics employed by Comer.
