VIDEO: John Fetterman’s Failed Attempts to Answer Softball Question

Democratic Senator Struggles to Address Interstate Collapse

During a hearing, Democratic senator John Fetterman (Pa.) found it difficult to articulate his thoughts on the recent collapse of Interstate 95 in his state. When asked for comments about the incident, Fetterman stumbled, saying, “I, uh, would just, um, really like to, you know—the 95, 95, 95. You know. Obviously, you’re pretty much preoccupied with 95, and I certainly am too, and we know it’s a major, uh, eatery, not just for Pennsylvania but for the East, the East Coast, and a lot of Pennsylvanians are worried that the delays in repairs bring to its standstill deal.”

Health Challenges and Recent Return to Senate

In May 2022, Fetterman suffered a stroke that resulted in permanent health damage, as reported by the Washington Free Beacon. He recently returned to the Senate after a six-week stay at Walter Reed Medical Center for “severe” clinical depression, according to his office.

Interstate Collapse and Repair Timeline

A portion of the interstate running through Pennsylvania collapsed on Sunday. Democratic governor Josh Shapiro announced that repairs could “take some number of months.” The collapse occurred after a truck carrying petroleum caught fire on the highway.

Republican Candidate Mocks Repair Timeline

Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis’s team mocked Governor Shapiro for the projected repair timeline. The DeSantis war room tweeted, “The I-95 in Philadelphia is set to take ‘some number of MONTHS’ to repair. In Florida, when the Pine Island bridge was destroyed by Hurricane Ian, it was rebuilt in three days.”
