Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser held a press conference to update the public on rescue efforts following a‍ tragic incident where a military helicopter collided with ‍a civilian airliner‍ above the Potomac River. In her address, she ‍expressed condolences to the families and communities affected by the tragedy. The collision involved American Airlines Flight 5342 from Wichita, Kansas, which had 64‌ passengers on board, and a ⁣military Black Hawk helicopter with three personnel. as of now, over 30 bodies have been recovered, with no survivors reported. Bowser ⁤announced that another briefing would‍ take place the following morning at 7:30 AM at Ronald Reagan Airport.The press⁤ conference was also attended ‌by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.

Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser is holding a press conference updating the public on rescue efforts after a military helicopter collided with a civilian airliner above the Potomac River.

“Tonight, as our first responders continue their efforts, we are sending our love and prayers to the families, loved ones, and communities who are experiencing loss during this terrible tragedy. We will provide our next briefing at 7:30AM at DCA. It will be live on this account,” she said in a post on X.

Bowser gave her first press conference alongside Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy shortly before 1 a.m.

American Airlines Flight 5342 from Wichita, Kansas, collided with a helicopter, which the Federal Aviation Administration revealed was a military Black Hawk Sikorsky H-60. The airliner had 64 people on board while the helicopter had three. So far, over 30 bodies have been recovered with no survivors.
