LIVE: Oversight hearing with Capitol Police inspector general
The House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight to Hold Hearing with Inspector General of U.S. Capitol Police
The House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight is set to hold an engaging hearing on Wednesday, featuring testimony from the esteemed inspector general of the U.S. Capitol Police.
Inspector General Ron Russo will take the stage before the committee on Capitol Hill, delivering his insights and findings. This comes in the wake of his recent internal review of the department’s hiring processes, which revealed a shocking statistic. According to Russo’s investigation, a staggering 48% of Capitol Police applicants were failed by a screening company on inspector general“>pre-employment psychological evaluations. To put this into perspective, the national average for such failures stands at a mere 16%.
Concerns Raised and Action Taken
It was House Administration Committee Ranking Member Joseph Morelle (D-NY) who initially raised concerns about the screening firm, Global Consortium LLC. In response, Russo promptly initiated his review in January, and the results were nothing short of alarming. Morelle and others described the conclusions as “wide-ranging and deeply troubling.” Consequently, Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger made the decision to terminate the contract with the screening company.
As the nation eagerly awaits this significant hearing, it is worth noting that several other high-profile hearings are also scheduled to take place on Capitol Hill on Wednesday. The House Oversight Committee, for instance, will be graced by the presence of two IRS agents who will shed light on the alleged politicization of the Hunter Biden investigation.
Make sure to mark your calendars for this captivating event. The House Administration Subcommittee’s hearing will commence at 2 p.m. EDT on Wednesday.
