House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and GOP leadership are holding a press conference Tuesday morning ahead of President Donald Trump’s promised tariffs on Wednesday.

The press conference is expected to begin at 10 a.m. Eastern time. Lawmakers are expected to address the tariffs coming on April 2, which Trump has described as “Liberation Day,” as well as other policy issues, including federal budget negotiations.  Stocks in Japan and Germany, as well as other countries, fell on Monday in anticipation of the tariffs.

Trump has said the economic sanctions will be “amazing” for revitalizing the U.S. economy.
