WATCH LIVE: Republicans hold news conference on budget reconciliation
A group of Senate and House Republicans will speak about the proposed continuing resolution to extend government funding through March 14, 2025, during a press conference Wednesday afternoon.
The group, which includes Sens. Rick Scott (R-FL), Mike Lee (R-UT), and Ron Johnson (R-WI), along with Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD), are expected to begin speaking at 2:15 p.m. from Capitol Hill.
The stopgap would maintain current government spending levels and include a supplemental disaster relief package, as government funding is set to expire at the end of the week.
The group of Republican lawmakers have each expressed their concerns over the stopgap, with Scott posting on X that dropping the lengthy piece of legislation and giving little time to read it is the “same tired trick Washington uses repeatedly to force reckless spending and wasteful government programs through Congress.”
