The meeting will focus on tariff negotiations, after Trump announced 20% additional tariffs on EU countries on April 9th. However, Trump ordered a 90-day pause on implementing the rates.
As the leader of the right-wing party Brothers of Italy, Meloni has positioned herself as a key ally to Trump. She is the first leader to meet with Trump since he imposed, then paused, his tariffs.
