WATCH LIVE: Trump sentenced in New York hush money case
President-elect Donald Trump is being sentenced in New York after he was found guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.
In a ruling last month, Judge Juan Merchan said a “sentence of an unconditional discharge appears to be the most viable solution to ensure finality.” This type of sentence would mean Trump would not face any requirements, conditions, or parole.
Trump tried to use the Supreme Court to intervene and delay the sentencing, but the high court denied his request Thursday.
In April, Trump was found guilty on 34 counts pertaining to him paying adult film star Stormy Daniels, who said she and Trump had a sexual encounter in 2006, $130,000 shortly before the 2016 election. Trump denies the encounter.
On Jan. 20, Trump will become the first convicted felon to be president.
