MSNBC guest alleges white people appropriated all music, except classical, from black individuals
MSNBC Guest Claims White People Stole Every Form of Music Except Classical from Black People
An MSNBC guest made a bold statement on Monday, asserting that white people have stolen all forms of music from black people, with the exception of classical music. The guest’s comments were in response to critics who questioned Beyonce’s upcoming country album, suggesting it was outside her usual genre.

The host of the show humorously pointed out that conservatives complaining about Beyonce’s venture into country music were contradicting their own stance on cultural appropriation. He then turned to Dulce Sloan, a correspondent from “The Daily Show,” for her opinion on the matter.
Sloan responded by stating, “If white people hated cultural appropriation, then they shouldn’t have created music. Because every form of music in America was stolen from black people: rock’n’roll, jazz, blues, country, pop music. So if you have a problem with cultural appropriation — y’all created classical music, y’all could have stuck with that…”
In a mocking tone, Sloan continued, “Roll the piano into this concert,” implying that white people and conservatives only take issue with cultural appropriation when it involves something they like or want to be associated with.

One person responded to Sloan’s comments, sarcastically suggesting that if she was right, they would give up performing rock & roll, while she should give up indoor plumbing, the printed word, cell phones, and wheeled transportation.
As dumb as this is, let’s just say she’s right.
Fine. We’ll give up performing rock & roll and she can give up
indoor plumbing, the printed word, cell phones, and wheeled transportation. https://t.co/9rqnNdxkth— Tandy (@dantypo) February 20, 2024
Another commenter, Darvio Morrow, pointed out the flaw in the guest’s argument, stating that while it is true that the foundations of American popular music come from black Americans, it is not accurate to claim that every form of music in America was stolen. Morrow emphasized that the music industry may have exploited black artists, but that does not reflect the entire country’s attitude towards black music. He expressed pride in the immense contributions of black artists to American popular music and criticized using this as a means to bash the country.
Here’s the issue with this. They take something that is an irrefutable fact (the foundations of American popular music comes from Black Americans) and then mix it with some bullsh*t (every form of music in America was “stolen”). I can’t believe I have to say this in 2024 but ITS… https://t.co/MSt3No1xKC

Despite the controversy, Beyonce’s single “Texas Hold ‘Em” from her upcoming album has already reached the top of the Billboard Country chart, making her the first black woman to achieve a number 1 single on the country chart.
According to John McEuen of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, the roots of American country music can be traced back to various influences, including the Irish, recently freed slaves who introduced the banjo, the Spanish vaqueros in Texas, and the Germans who brought polka music.

Can PAA be enhanced to provide alternative suggestions or recommendations when it is unable to generate a specific story
Yes, PAA (Prompting-Assisted Autocomplete) can be enhanced to provide alternative suggestions or recommendations when it is unable to generate a specific story. This can be done by incorporating a logic that recognizes when the generated response does not adhere to a specific story and instead offers alternative options to the user.
One way to achieve this is by implementing a system that checks the coherence and relevance of the generated response. If the model detects inconsistencies or lack of information in the generated story, it can trigger the suggestion of alternative ideas or prompts to guide the user or assist the model in generating a more appropriate response.
Additionally, the system can utilize techniques such as reinforcement learning to encourage the model to explore alternative storylines when it encounters unknown or ambiguous prompts. By training the model to reward creative and coherent responses, it can generate more diverse alternatives when faced with difficulties in story generation.
Providing alternative suggestions or recommendations in such scenarios can enhance the user experience by ensuring a more satisfactory and engaging conversation with the AI system.
