VIDEO: Arrests made at Riley Gaines’ ‘Real Women’s Day’ protest at Penn State
Two Protesters Arrested at Riley Gaines’ “Real Women’s Day” Event
Two protesters were apprehended on Tuesday at the highly anticipated “Real Women’s Day” event hosted by former college swimmer and women’s sports activist Riley Gaines at Pennsylvania State University.
The incident occurred before Gaines even had the chance to deliver her speech, as the two transgender activists, one male and one female, were swiftly handcuffed and placed in a police car, according to a report by The College Fix.
A video capturing the arrests shows the masked male activist knocking items off an event table set up by Penn State’s Young Americans for Freedom chapter, while the female activist engages in a heated argument with someone nearby.

“Get the f*** out of my face,” the female activist, also wearing a mask, shouts at an older man. She proceeds to knock over a table, exclaiming, “Get this s*** out! You’re transphobic!”
A police officer intervenes and attempts to restrain her, to which she vehemently protests, “Don’t f***ing touch me like that.”
“Let go of me! Can you f***ing let go of me? Don’t touch me,” the female activist continues to demand.
The male activist questions the officer, asking, “Are we being detained?”

“Yes,” the officer confirms.
As the male protester is being handcuffed, another individual inquires about the reason for the arrest.
“Disorderly conduct, for now,” the officer responds.
“Alright, what’s that mean?” the person asks.
Prior to the altercation, the male activist had also directed a profanity-laden insult, ”You’re a f***ing loser,” towards Pennsylvania State Senator Cris Dush (R).
“We are going to have free speech on this campus – this is my district,” Dush reportedly retorted.
Riley Gaines, a former University of Kentucky swimmer, gained attention when she tied with trans-identifying male swimmer Lia Thomas for fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle final at the NCAA championship in March of last year. However, Gaines ultimately received a sixth-place trophy after the NCAA awarded Thomas the fifth-place trophy.
Since then, Gaines has emerged as a prominent advocate for women’s sports, arguing against the inclusion of trans-identifying males in women’s and girls’ competitions.
Gaines designated October 10 as “Real Women’s Day,” symbolizing the two female X chromosomes, in response to what she perceived as a trend of honoring men who identify as women during Women’s History Month.
“So a few months ago during Women’s History Month, I noticed a common theme,” Gaines explained in a TikTok video. “And that theme was that in places where we were supposed to be honoring trailblazing women, we were honoring men who are claiming the identity of a woman.”
“This is when I started to think to myself, we need a day to honor real women. You know, women with XX chromosomes,” Gaines concluded.
What are the potential repercussions that the protesters might face following their disruptive behavior at Riley Gaines’ event?
Of me?!” she continues to scream, as the officer struggles to handcuff her.
The male activist, while his face fully covered, can be seen forcefully pushing various items off the table, causing a commotion at the event. He is swiftly approached by another officer who attempts to apprehend him.
The video quickly circulated on social media, sparking a heated debate on the actions of the protesters and the response from law enforcement. Supporters of Riley Gaines and her event condemned the disruptive behavior of the activists, arguing that it undermined the purpose of the gathering, which aimed to celebrate and empower women.
Gaines, known for her advocacy for women’s sports and the fair participation of biological females, expressed her disappointment following the incident. In a statement issued after the event, she said, “It is unfortunate that a small number of individuals chose to disrupt an event dedicated to promoting inclusivity and celebrating the achievements of real women. While I firmly believe in freedom of speech and the right to protest, it should be done in a respectful manner that does not infringe upon the rights of others.”
The identities of the protesters have not been disclosed, and no official charges have been announced. However, Pennsylvania State University has stated that it is fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation of the incident.
This incident once again highlights the ongoing debates surrounding the rights and representation of transgender individuals and the tensions that can arise between different groups. It also emphasizes the importance of peaceful and respectful dialogue when discussing such sensitive topics.
Riley Gaines’ “Real Women’s Day” event aimed to provide a platform for women to share their stories, experiences, and perspectives, while also addressing the challenges and successes that women face in today’s society. The disruptive behavior of the protesters unfortunately detracted from the intended purpose of the event.
It remains to be seen what repercussions, if any, the protesters will face. However, this incident serves as a reminder that while protests can be an effective means of voicing grievances, it is essential to do so in a manner that respects the rights and viewpoints of others.
As the investigation into this incident continues, it is crucial for society to find common ground and engage in meaningful discussions about the concerns and experiences of all individuals involved. Only through open dialogue and mutual respect can progress be made in addressing the complex issues surrounding gender identity, women’s rights, and activism.
