WATCH: Russell Brand blasts Alvin Bragg’s idea ‘to arrest Trump and not Clinton’

Comedian and media personality Russell Brand expressed his doubts about the Democrats’ intentions with regards to the possibility of an indictment against former President Donald Trump.

During his Stay Free with Russell Brand show on Monday, Brand compared Democratic Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s investigation into Trump’s alleged hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016 to the Federal Election Commission’s fine of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign over the infamous Steele dossier.

“It’s intriguing to note that this indictment seems to be for the misuse of campaign funds, which is very much like the Democratic Party’s situation with the Steele dossier,” said Brand. “You can’t announce that you’re going to arrest Trump and then not take action against Clinton.”

“How is power being wielded?” he added. “Is there censorship? Does there seem to be an agenda?”

Brand suggested that the institutions of the United States are fundamentally corrupt.

“We must acknowledge that many interests are being purchased”, said Brand. “The government’s foundation is built on corruption. That’s the founding principle, isn’t it? That they are supported by, lobbied by, have stocks and shares in corporations that receive favorable treatment and legislation.”

“Even this potential arrest of Trump is another instance of this,” Brand continued.

On Monday, Republican lawmakers also criticized any notion of an indictment of Trump and pledged to investigate Bragg’s investigation, stating that it was politically motivated.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) declared that he and other House Republicans sent a letter to Bragg, expressing their interest in viewing the communications between the federal Justice Department and Bragg’s district attorney’s office in Manhattan.
