VIDEO: Soros-Funded DA Admits Job Lacks Crime Impact
A Progressive Prosecutor’s Controversial Statement
“The D.A.’s role has really no impact on crime. To create a safe community, we need to invest in alternatives to incarceration,”
- Alameda County district attorney Pamela Price
In a recent interview with a local CBS outlet, Alameda County district attorney Pamela Price, who is facing a recall effort after just six months in office, made a bold statement. She claimed that her position as a prosecutor has no impact on crime. Instead, she believes that creating a safe community requires investing in alternatives to incarceration.
Despite her assertion, Price shifted blame onto her predecessor for the ”exploding crime” in the Northern California county. She acknowledged that she was elected because the community didn’t feel safe under the previous administration.
During the interview, Price was confronted with accusations of being “unfair” and giving excessively lenient sentences for violent crimes. One particular case that drew controversy was her decision to offer a plea deal to a teenager linked to three murders, resulting in just seven years in juvenile hall. This decision went against the advice of the sheriff’s office, which recommended charging the teenager as an adult due to his extensive and violent criminal history.
Price, who campaigned as an “unapologetic progressive,” promised to challenge conventional prison sentencing and stop over-criminalizing youth. However, her prosecutorial decisions have sparked outrage and led to the formation of a group called “Save Alameda for Everyone,” which aims to remove her from office.
Interestingly, during the interview, Price’s public relations assistant interrupted to emphasize the need to discuss Price’s achievements. When asked about the metrics used to measure her accomplishments, Price admitted that her office has yet to establish them. This lack of clarity raises questions about the effectiveness of her progressive approach.
It is worth noting that Price received significant financial support from progressive billionaire George Soros during her campaign. Soros is known for funding prosecutors who align with his progressive ideals, including the elimination of cash bail.
