Check out this heart-stopping video of an American Airlines plane bursting into flames after a bird strike! It’s gone viral and you won’t believe your eyes.
Hold on to your seats, folks! A video has been released of an American Airlines flight from Columbus, Ohio to Phoenix, Arizona bursting into flames mid-air after a flock of geese collided with it. The Boeing 737-800 took off at 7:43 a.m. on Sunday but was forced to make an emergency landing back at John Glenn Columbus International Airport at 8:22 a.m. Two passengers, Marni Kallestad and Ryan Brink, recorded the terrifying view from the plane as it caught fire. One witness reported hearing “wonky, pulsing noises” after the collision with the geese. Although initial reports stated an engine had caught fire, John Glenn Columbus International Airport later corrected the report, stating that “the aircraft experienced mechanical issues, not an engine fire.” Thankfully, the flight landed safely and all passengers disembarked without injury. However, passenger Matthew Danek described the experience as “the first time in my life that I was ready to die.” This incident comes just a week after an Airbus A321 plane experienced a fire due to mechanical failure just before takeoff from Charlotte Douglas Airport in North Carolina. Passengers disembarked safely, and the aircraft was decommissioned. It’s reassuring to know that airline crews are well-trained to handle such situations, as aviation safety expert Shawn Pruchnicki pointed out. Let’s hope for smoother skies ahead!
