VIDEO: Transgender Biden Official Advocates Gender-Affirming Care for Children to Prevent Distress During Puberty
Department of Health and Human Services Prioritizes Children’s Well-being
Assistant Secretary Rachel Levine emphasizes the importance of sex-change procedures in preventing children from experiencing the “wrong puberty.”
Addressing Concerns About Early Intervention
In a recent interview on ABC, Levine, a transgender female, was asked why sex-change treatments shouldn’t be reserved for adults.
“Adolescence is hard and puberty is hard,” Levine explained. “What if you’re going through the wrong puberty? What if you feel internally that you are female, but your body is developing in a male way?”
The Biden official clarified that medical interventions before puberty are not recommended, stating, “I want to make it clear that for pre-pubertal children, there are no medical procedures done.”
These statements come at a time when over 20 states have banned puberty blockers and hormone replacement for children.
Advocating for Gender-Affirming Care
Levine has consistently advocated for providing sex-change treatments to children, emphasizing that ”gender-affirming care is literally suicide-prevention care” in a previous interview.
Levine’s advocacy for transgender rights has garnered praise, with Chelsea Clinton even publishing a children’s book that tells Levine’s inspiring story.
